What is acid reflux and why does it hurt so badly? You might be asking this question if you suffer from heartburn or other symptoms of acid reflux. Acid reflux is sometimes referred to as GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). The symptoms of acid reflux can be confused with gas or even a heart attack. The symptoms can be mild to quite painful, and sometimes difficult to recognize.

Acid reflux is not gas. Gas, when it feels like it is in the chest, is actually excess air that has been swallowed and is trapped in the esophagus. Excess air can be swallowed while eating, drinking, or smoking. Some people with loose dentures will swallow excess air as well. This type of gas, as opposed to gas caused from food in the stomach and intestines, is released when you burp, or belch.

Heartburn is the most common symptoms of acid reflux. Heartburn feels like a burning sensation in the chest and can be mild or it can be very painful. Some other common symptoms of acid reflux are nausea and vomiting, and regurgitation. Some more serious symptoms of acid reflux can include coughing and wheezing, the feeling like something is caught in the throat or a choking feeling, ulcers in the esophagus that can lead to strictures (scar tissue), inflammation of the esophagus and throat, and even inflammation of the lungs.

What is acid reflux caused by? Acid and pepsin is produced in the stomach to digest food. With acid reflux, these acids will be forced up (reflux) into the esophagus. Acid reflux has several causes. Often the stomach is just too slow to digest the foods we eat. When this happens, the stomach makes more acid to try to digest what is left. Soon there is too much acid in the stomach and there is no place for the acid to go except back up into the esophagus, causing symptoms like heartburn.

Another common cause is when the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) does not close as it should in order to hold down the liquids in the stomach. The LES is a muscle that surrounds the lower portion of the esophagus where it meets up with the stomach. The LES, when functioning properly, will contract and relax. It relaxes when we swallow something, like food, drink or saliva, and then contracts immediately to keep it down. When it is not working properly and the liquid refluxes, this causes symptoms of acid reflux.

A hiatal hernia can be the cause of acid reflux, or it may be the result of acid reflux. This is not known for sure. A hiatal hernia happens when the stomach muscle weakens and pushes up into the esophagus, resulting in the LES being pushed up into the esophagus and becoming unable to do its job

What is acid reflux and how can I stop it? Acid reflux is a very common occurrence and most people will get it at some point in their lives. An antacid should take care of mild symptoms, but if your acid reflux is chronic and cannot be taken care of with antacid, speak to your physician about your symptoms of acid reflux.

Acid reflux is a condition where gastric juices containing acid travel back from the stomach into the esophagus (gullet or swallowing tube). Acid reflux is also the cause of heartburn and in severe cases, this can be very troublesome, it can last several months or longer if not treated. Acid reflux is mainly caused due to regurgitation or refluxing of partly digested food back to esophagus. Acid reflux is a chronic condition which if not treated properly in early stages it can lead to several other severe complications. Acid Reflux treatment includes medications along with certain dietary and lifestyle changes.

Acid reflux occurs when liquids and food from the stomach regurgitate or reflux into the esophagus and sometimes out the mouth. Acid reflux also referred by Gastric reflux disease, GORD (Gastro-esophageal reflux disease) or GERD (Gastro esophageal reflux disease) is a very painful disease as it may last from few to several years.

Acid reflux may also cause too much injury by developing ulcers near the stomach and oesophagus, also pronounced as esophagus, narrowing of oesophagus or oesophageal reflux, a rare type of cancer. Acid reflux is very difficult to be detected in children or infants. Acid reflux is a disorder where the acidic juices of the stomach flow back (reflux) into the esophagus. Acid reflux can be diagnosed and treated so that the symptoms are relived. Acid reflux is a particularly unpleasant problem, but it doesn’t have to be a debilitating one.

Acid Reflux Treatment there are many different treatment options available for acid reflux and heartburn. Heartburn, the burning sensation in the middle of the chest that is usually triggered after eating, is actually the most common symptom of a more complex disorder called GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) or acid reflux a condition where the stomach refluxes or backs up its liquid content to the esophagus.

Heartburn symptoms caused by GERD are usually relieved by drugs called proton pump inhibitors (Prilosec, Prevacid, Aciphex, Protonix, and Nexium). Treatment for GERD depends on how severe symptoms are, where the treatment may just include lifestyle changes, such as changing what one eats or drinks. Gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly referred to as GERD or acid reflux, is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up or refluxes) into the esophagus. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a more serious form of gastroesophageal reflux (GER), which is common. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic disease that causes recurrent acid reflux.

PROTONIX® (pantoprazole sodium) Delayed-Release Tablets are indicated for the short-term treatment of duodenal ulcer, erosive esophagitis, gastric ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux disease, helicobacter pylori infection, peptic ulcer, zollinger ellison syndrome, stress ulcer prophylaxis. Protonix is commonly called in Canada as Pantoloc and it is generically in the medical world as Pantoprazole. Protonix is the used for the reduction of the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Protonix is a medicine indicated for the treatment of esophageal damage caused by GERD or Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Protonix inhibits or blocks (H+,K+)-ATPase by forming a bond to two sites of the enzyme system, and as a result, suppresses the final step in gastric acid production. Protonix Delayed- Release Tablets should be swallowed whole, with or without food in the stomach. Protonix is used to treat damage to the esophagus associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production (e. Protonix may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. Protonix can be taken with or without food. Protonix can also be used for other purposes aside from the ones stated in this medical guide.

I am Dianadj, and I am working with realpharmacyrx for more info related to sexual health please log on to realpharmacyrx.com

Are you having a hard time swallowing? Do you also feel a prickly and warm sensation deep down your throat? Are you feeling sick as if the food that you just ate wants to climb back up and force itself to come out? Then, you must be experiencing Acid Reflux.

Those things exactly pertain to the symptoms of Acid Reflux, or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) in medical terms. What happens here is that the liquid matter in your stomach go up and damage the linings of your esophagus because of their high acidity. This is caused by the malfunctioning or the involuntary relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which then allows the said rising of your stomach’s contents. Certain foods that are rich in caffeine and filled with fat are said to trigger this abnormality because they induce the loosening up of the LES, while spicy and acidic foods such as hot sauce and lemonade add to the high acid level of the stomach.

Some people may believe that only adults can experience this irregularity in the digestive system, but the truth is that children and even infants can be prone to the disease. Here are some of the most perceptible symptoms of Acid Reflux that you have to look out for in you and your children:

* Heartburn is characterized by a burning feeling in the esophagus, and this is usually linked to the regurgitation of the acids from the stomach. The pain that it produces are often focused on the chest, but it can spread out and affect the jaw and the neck, especially the throat. This can also lead to a cough and other kinds of aberrant pains in that area. So the next time that you feel like your throat is itchy, it may not just be a case of a sore throat.

* In children, the most common symptoms of Acid Reflux are extreme salivation, recurring vomiting, coughing, forced spitting out, and other problems involving the respiratory system. Some other usual signs include bad breath, frequent burping and hiccups, and an excessively drooling nose. They can also refuse to eat food because they feel pain in their throats or they have a hard time swallowing what you feed them. Children, especially babies, when laid down flat, often cry when they feel something painful but cannot explain what it is, so parents are advised to be more sensitive regarding this matter.

These symptoms are usually easy to discern because of their characteristics, but sometimes, we find it hard to put away our pride to tell others that something is wrong with us and that we need help. This attitude should be changed for good because GERD is not a simple abnormality that can be treated with simple measures. Immediate response is always needed in such incidents. And now that information about the symptoms of Acid Reflux are easily accessible, it is now our responsibility to protect ourselves and the people that we care about from this rampant disease.

If you’re looking for a natural cure for acid reflux or if you are just looking out for the acid reflux foods to avoid then perhaps you would first like to know a little more about it. Acid Reflux sometimes called GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) or acid indigestion is a condition suffered by thousands of people from all walks of life. The main symptoms include frequent heartburn, a burning type of pain in the lower part of the mid chest, behind the breastbone, and sometimes in the mid abdomen.

So just what is Acid Reflux?

Acid Reflux is a condition in which acid from the stomach escapes and moves up into the oesophagus. This is not a normal process of digestion and so can cause severe discomfort. If you have too much acid in your stomach it can eat away at the stomach lining and affect the muscles in the stomach and the oesophagus.

Some of the more common acid reflux causes include diet and lifestyle. It may not be so easy to change your lifestyle, maybe because of the type of job you do, which may be hectic and stressful. However making a small change in your diet and knowing what acid reflux foods to avoid can make a huge difference to how much you suffer.

Watching what you eat is essential if you suffer from acid reflux, and knowing what acid reflux foods to avoid is vital, as a poor diet is one of the main acid reflux causes. And it’s not just what you eat; it can also be how you eat. Try eating smaller more frequent meals as opposed to large heavy meals. Having less food in your stomach at any one time, means that your stomach does not have to produce such a large amount of acid to digest it.

Natural remedies for acid reflux can include just eating the right foods, and knowing what acid reflux foods to avoid. Fatty foods, acidic foods such as oranges or tomatoes should all be avoided, as should onions, chocolate, and any milk based products. Fast foods and fried foods are known to be some of the worst acid reflux causes.

As well as acid reflux foods to avoid, there are also foods that can be beneficial (thank goodness I hear you cry). Try switching to more fruit and vegetables, and complex carbohydrates in your diet. Some of these beneficial foods include apples, bananas, carrots, rice (brown or white), bread (wheat, multi grain, or white), corn bread, pasta, and cereals.

Meat and fish can also be part of a healthy diet as long as they are cooked the right way. Avoid frying and always buy lean meats. Fish can be steamed and things like beef and pork can be grilled. Chicken breasts are fine as long as you remove the skin. Also some dairy products are ok, fat free cream cheese, soy cheese, or feta cheese will not cause you any problems.

Along with these acid reflux foods to avoid there are also certain drinks and beverages to be aware of. Coffee, tea, or anything else with caffeine should be avoided. Alcohol is another no no, as is milk or any milk products. Smoking is also one of the worst acid reflux causes, so the cigarettes will have to go if you want to start feeling some improvement. Just by making these few changes in your diet can act like a natural cure for acid reflux.

Heartburn is a common problem in today’s world. Acid reflux, gastric reflux, GERD, (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) are the many names heartburn has been given. Even though they all share many of the same traits, there are specific medical conditions that can be found in each. Acid reflux or acid disorder reflux is a disorder of the digestive tract.

Acid disorder reflux gives the unfortunate sufferer a burning sensation in their chest and stomach. This painful inflammation is the result of hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is used by the stomach to digest food. When the stomach and the esophagus canal is not separated by a mechanism known as the Lower Esophageal Sphincter, then the stomach acids backup into the esophagus. This refluxing motion causes an irritation to the sensitive tissues in the lower esophagus area.

Generally the esophageal sphincter muscle functions normally. It contracts and closes the esophagus area after you have had a meal. This closure prevents the stomach acid from rising up into the esophagus during the digestion process. However there are times when the Lower Esophageal Sphincter does not operate properly, then acid from the stomach reflux into the esophagus. This results in the condition that is medically known as gastroesophageal reflux disorder or acid disorder reflux.

The reasons for acid disorder reflux are varied. However they often occur with other health issues like allergies, enzyme deficiencies, gallbladder problems, hiatal hernia, stress and heartburn ulcers.

Food and beverage consumption is another possible cause. It is recommended that you avoid consumption of alcohol, chocolate, citrus fruits and drinks as these are known to relax the Lower Esophageal Sphincter or LES as it is called. Coffee, Tea and colas which contain caffeine must be eliminated from your diet as well. These beverages contain a substance called theobromine.

Fried and fatty foods have a tendency to slow down the digestion process. Eating large amounts of food at any time of the day can put a lot of pressure on your stomach muscles. When the food is kept in your stomach for a long period, there is increased pressure to the stomach muscles. This pressure build-up can weaken the LES.

As this is the valve that protects your esophagus from the stomach you need to take care that this weakened conditioned does not allow the digested food acids to pass into your esophagus. Therefore you should eat small meals throughout the day. By consuming large amounts of food, you cause the LES to relax and reflux food into the esophagus leading to acid disorder reflux.

Tomatoes and tomato-based products like sauces and tomato juice will also cause the LES to relax. These tomato-based products lead to an increase in the production of stomach acid. When they reflux into the esophagus, the acidity levels cause acid disorder reflux.

By watching what you eat and taking care of your health, you stand a better chance of avoiding acid disorder reflux from entering your life and causing you pain, and its’ always better in the long to eat healthy anyway.

It is very alarming that there are quite few people nowadays who are still unaware and not cautious of themselves about the health threat that gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or acid reflux can bring to a person’s life. Find out today these acid reflux causes and make necessary precautions in handling their symptoms attacks. Who knows you might be the next person at risk of having acid reflux condition. So beware and be aware of its stings:

Esophageal sphincter malfunction. When something is wrong with a person’s esophageal sphincter (a tough rim of muscle surrounding the lower end of the esophagus), it will either relax or gently contract every time food is taken thus less energy is exerted to be able to push the food into the stomach. Since there’s no enough force to make the normal reaction proceed, the stomach acidic contents are backed up into the esophagus which causes burning in the throat, acidic taste in the mouth, heartburn and pain due to acid reflux.

Hiatal Hernia condition. This is a condition among the acid reflux causes that my friend has been dealing with. The tiny hole or opening seen in his diaphragm is where the upper part of the stomach moves up into the chest, causing him difficulties in breathing.

Severe coughing, vomiting, straining, obesity or pregnancy may lead to hiatal hernia but not necessarily acid reflux disease however a person can have them both, resulting to a more critical condition.

Pregnancy. During the third trimester period of pregnancy, the baby inside the womb of the mother grows bigger and longer. On this growth stage, the stomach is being pressed by the child resulting to the backing up of the stomach contents into the esophagus thereby becomes one of the acid reflux causes occurring in the last few months of pregnancy.

No medication is recommended in this situation. Only proper and balanced diet is advised. That is eating food little by little in every meal but not to reduce the amount of food desired for nourishment. And upon giving birth to the baby this acid reflux condition will be gone.

Peptic ulcers and insufficient digestive enzymes. Peptic ulcers (inflamed upper gastrointestinal tract that has lesions) and the deficiency of digestive enzymes present in the stomach are among the typical acid reflux causes. Having such condition, the food metabolism during digestion process slows down causing the stomach acids build up that back up into the esophagus.

Asthma. It has become confusing whether asthma is one of the acid reflux causes or the reverse is true. Though among 70 % of patients with asthma also suffer from acid reflux, their co-occurrence has not been given a full and concrete explanation. Either way, one thing is clear; they both affect our health condition.

Lifestyle factors. Smoking, overeating, stress, drinking too much caffeine, alcohol and eating too much salty and fatty food are some of the common lifestyle factors that lead to acid reflux disease. All these lifestyle causes can be prevented thru self-discipline and self-control. A person should make a firm decision to abstain from all sorts of bad lifestyle habits and commit to follow a strict diet plan and other healthful rules in life.

Life is precious. There is always no second chance when life has been taken away. It is your responsibility to love yourself by giving utmost care to your health. Remember, health is wealth! Don’t let GERD get you and get all your possessions. Do everything to stay healthy and free from these acid reflux causes.

We all know how Acid Reflux, or in medical terms, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), harms our insides when the gastric juices in our stomach go up to our esophagus. This is a serious disease since the damages done are internal and that the esophagus is important in ingesting food. Moreover, the chances of acquiring it are high because anybody can be affected, and there are numerous ways of getting it that most of us are not conscious of. But because different kinds of informative paraphernalia are available at present, awareness is now within reach.

Some sources offer all sorts of cures for this disease, like therapies, drug intake, and even surgeries, while some suggest preventive measures. The following, on the other hand, is a guide that is a mixture of both cure and prevention that can be done by engaging in what is called an “Acid Reflux diet.” Here, evaluation of the dietary measures is also provided. These are some tips that you can apply to your eating habits, which will in turn help in reducing the risks and effects of GERD:

* There are some food types that you have to avoid in your diet so as to decrease the possibility of obtaining the disease. Some of these kinds of food are butter, chocolate, and other fatty foods because they loosen up the lower esophageal sphincter, which allows the liquid substances in your stomach to rise up. Highly citric fruits like tomato, lemon, and grapefruit are also said to contribute to this because they further stimulate the production of stomach acids. This Acid Reflux diet is quite hard to follow because those food sources are the more popular ones, and it is difficult to find substitutes for them. So it is better to consult your doctor or dietician regarding what foods to eat and avoid.

* Do not eat 2 to 3 hours before you go to sleep. This is because the digestive process is at its peak within that time period after you ingest something. When you lie down, the position of your body is horizontal, and this counters the natural downward direction of your stomach’s contents. As a result, reverse flowing occurs and damages your esophagus’ lining. This Acid Reflux diet is very healthy to pursue because not only does this prevent GERD, but it also helps you lose weight, which is also a factor in the disease. Eating less during dinner can go along with this approach, as well as elevating your head when you sleep to prevent the acids from ascending.

* Most people believe that moderation is the key to a healthy lifestyle. Here are some food types that you can eat occasionally: vegetables such as garlic and scallions, fruits such as peach and strawberry, dairy products such as milk and processed cheese, prepared meat like ham and chicken salad, beverages such as beer and non-alcoholic wine, and condiments and desserts such as ketchup and low-fat cookies.

* On the other hand, there are food sources that are completely safe to include in your Acid Reflux diet. Eat vegetables such as peas and cabbage, fruits such as apple and banana, grain products such as rice cake and white bread, natural dairy products such as feta or goat’s cheese, meats such as skinless chicken breasts and lean ground beef, beverages such as mineral and purified water, and condiments and desserts such as low-fat sour cream and jelly beans.

Again, these guidelines are tricky to go along with because they greatly limit the choices that we have for our everyday meals. You just have to choose which of these you are going to follow and see for yourself if they are effective or not.

Follow one of these Acid Reflux diets or follow them all; it is up to you to find ways on how to take care of your body. You just have to put in mind that we are responsible for our own actions, and we deserve whatever results that turn out.

Acid reflux in babies is more common then many people realize, with more than half of all infants experiencing its symptoms to varying degrees in the first three months of life. This may sound un-nerving for new parents, but the good news is that most infant\’s acid reflux is a normal part of digestive tract development with relatively few experiencing the more severe symptoms that need to be dealt with medically.

Acid reflux, or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), occurs when stomach acid and contents flow back up the esophagus. This can be very uncomfortable and even painful for anyone, but is more so with babies as it causes an unpleasant burning sensation at the back of the throat as well as the upper chest area. The real problem with acid reflux in babies is simply identifying that they do indeed suffer from it.

Babies who suffer from occasional acid reflux often exhibit symptoms such as spitting up or vomiting, coughing, occasional fussiness or crying after eating and a reluctance to eat because of the discomfort associated with it. Of course these symptoms can be caused by any number of other things, but if they seem to consistently happen after feeding there is a good chance acid reflux is the culprit. Left untreated it can lead growth deficiencies due to the infant\’s inability to keep food down and refusing to eat. It is important to talk with your baby\’s pediatrician about any concerns you may have related to acid reflux.

The good news is that most infants out grow this condition and the vast majority of babies respond well to simple changes in feeding position and formula choices. Feeding in a more upright position is one recommendation your doctor may make, because this allows gravity to work, keeping the contents of the stomach moving downwards. It may be noticed that the baby\’s symptoms get worse when he is laid down for a nap. Another recommendation the doctor may make is feeding your baby more frequently with smaller amounts, instead of large feedings which exacerbate the condition. Thickening the formula may also help control the symptoms.

If dietary and positioning modifications do not help control the acid reflux in your baby then acid controlling medications may need to be used. If this is the case be sure to closely follow your doctor\’s orders. Treating a baby with over the counter medications is not a good idea unless supervised by the baby\’s pediatrician.

It is important to have any infant who suffers from acid reflux treated for this condition because it can cause damage to the esophagus and larynx as well as respiratory problems. In most cases it seldom gets to this extreme, but acid reflux in babies is something that all new parents need to be aware of and cognizant for.
